Automation is the key of success! Part 1

Automation is without doubt one of the most important things of any online
project and the main key of success.I’m now going to explain why this is the
case… and how you can use this concept to improve your own online project.


what is Automation?

I remember how exciting it was when I made my first sale.
I wrote an email to the customer:

"Thank you for your order, we have recieved your payment. Here are your link and password to download the e-book".

Then I thought to my self: This is not the way to go, when I get more orders,
I have to stay the whole day infront of my INBOX folder and awnser an email after another.

In fact, it sounds like a hard job, and anyone of us who went into internet marketing wanted to avoid hard work.
The biggest problem in Internet marketing is that there are many small online shop owners out there who quickly fall into this trap. I realized, that I worked harder and longer than in any other job I did before. I was sitting the whole day, sometimes up to 15 hours, awnsering emails, verifying orders and updating subscribers lists. My profits didn't grow as they should have, because I was
trapped into two e-book shops and I didn't have enough time to look for other
income streams.



So what to do? The awnser is Automation!

That's when I started automate my websites, it really took the time-consuming work of my business.Automating my business allowed me to concentrate on launching new ideas, developing and expanding my business into other, more profitable niches, and ultimately enabled me to make more money. That was the point when I started to be successful.

In this post, I am going to explain one way of Automation and I hope that you can integrate the methods to make your web site a success.

How did I advertise my website?

As I mentioned above, I went into selling e-books, because in my oppinon they are easier to sell that phyical goods. I bought a domain name and started a website. But how did I got costumers to buy my goods?

Well when I started, I readed on some websites that I could promote my website and my products by entering communities and forums, who talk about the same topic my e-books where about. I surfed through the threads and joined the discussions. Sometimes, not always, I put my link and the forums visitors followed it to my website. That way I sold 1-2 e-books per day, sometimes 1 more.

Well that was a good start and I can recommand it for beginners, but you have to save the money to go on with the next step I did,

I automated the Website promotion.

I started an Adwords campaign. but why?

Starting an adwords campaign would be not that easy, because of the high competition of other Advertisers.Nevertheless it helped me saving much time. When starting an Adwords campaign, you have to consider not to go for the main keywords, but for the low competitive keyphrases.

For example, when i typed in play golf (about 250000 searches/month on google),
the average bid on that keyword was about 0.3 $. That meant that I had to bid the same to be on the first result page on google. The average conversion is about 2%-5%, when you are selling a really good product.
My e-book's price was 15.99$. That means, I would pay an average of 30 $ in Adwords to sell 2 e-books.

My trick was to go for the lower competitive keywords and key phrases like:
how to play golf (low competition) bid price 0.1 $

That way I managed to sell 2 e-books at a price of 10 $ in Adwords. That was great.

And because I offered other e-books on my website, my costumers re-visited my website on their own and started purchasing my other products too. I always had an "offer of the week", like buy one get an other e-book with the same or a lower price 50% off.

Of course I didn't only bid on "how to play golf", but built various combinations
with low or no competition. The success with Adwords is, building a huge keyword list, (we'll talk about that another time).

So, once I started bidding on my keywords, my job was done. The only thing I had to do was testing the success of my keywords and key phrases. From time to time I had to manage the bid amounts and changed them, throw away some of the keywords and replace them by others, which were cheap.

My Website promotion was done!
